Citizen Charter

Ministry of Rural Development and Co-operatives Ministry of Local Government Department under the local government department, giving technical assistance to the local government institutions, providing development and maintenance of rural and urban infrastructure including development of small water resources, has contributed immensely to the development of the country's socio-economic conditions and employment opportunities. There was a time when the rural areas of communication was very fragile in Bangladesh.

The Citizen Charter is a written document of the rights of public service. Through this reflecting the aspiration of the public, the interest of the existing services is developed. Citizen Charter provides service providers with timely services. The transparency, accountability of the service providers and the increasing administration of the administration increases. Through the Citizen's Charter, interaction between providers and providers increases.

The key responsibilities of LGED

Preparation, implementation and monitoring of plans for development of infrastructure in rural and urban areas;

· Maintenance of rural infrastructure;

· Preparation, implementation and monitoring of Growthcenter / Hathbazar development;

Providing technical assistance to the union, upazila, district councils and municipalities;

· Preparation of database of planbooks, mapping and roads and social infrastructure for union, upazila and municipality;

Planning, implementation and monitoring of small water resource development;

Implementation and monitoring of infrastructural development programs of various ministries;

· Training in related development activities of representatives of the public, beneficiary, contractor and contract workers;

· Formulation of design and other technical models, manual and specification;

· Increase efficiency through training of LGED officials / staff;

LGED's administrative level

In order to manage the extensive activities of LGED, the following is in the administrative network

§ LGED's chief engineer is acting as the official head of the LGED office in Agargaon, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka-1207. In addition, there are four additional superintending engineers, seven supervisory engineers, 17 executive engineers, and 146 officials and workers working in different units in the headquarters. The activities of LGED in the headquarters are completed by the following Eunice:

§ LGED's activities are spread over 10 regions across the country, such as Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi, Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Comilla and Faridpur. Each zone is headed by a caretaker engineer. There are 8 officers, including the Executive Engineer and Assistant Engineer, under the supervision of caretaker engineers in every region - who supervise the supervision and supervision of the LGED including the entrusted administrative responsibilities of the districts.


§ All 13 senior officers / employees, including two assistant engineers led by the Executive Engineer in each district headquarters of 64 districts, conduct all the activities of LGED. Moreover, there are 1 mechanical engineer in greater district;


§ All of the upazilas in 482 Upazila engineers led by Upazila Engineers, including 19 assistant officers and employees
